Who is an author, who is disclosed, who is not
Authorship is not purchased. It is documented.
Manuscripts are developed by a named scientific team. Contributors who meet ICMJE criteria are listed as authors. Writing support that does not is disclosed in the Acknowledgments per GPP 2022, with a CRediT matrix.
Four ICMJE criteria
All four must be met to be listed as an author.
- Substantial contribution to design, data or interpretation
- Drafting or critical revision of intellectual content
- Approval of the version to be submitted
- Agreement to be accountable for all parts
GPP 2022
Professional writing support that does not meet ICMJE is disclosed in the Acknowledgments: name, qualification, affiliation and funding source.
CRediT
The role matrix (conceptualization, analysis, writing, and so on) accompanies the manuscript when the contract is for a paper.
ICMJE: four clear criteria
An author substantially contributes to design or data or analysis, drafts or critically revises, approves the version and takes responsibility. Paying, lending a sample or being lab head is not enough. TesisPro does not sell author slots.
Anyone who does not meet authorship and did help with writing is declared in Acknowledgements under GPP 2022. The CRediT matrix goes with the manuscript when the contract is a paper.
How we operate it
The scope names the team and roles. «Put X as author because they pay» is refused. If someone who wrote the first draft does not want to sign, that is documented.
What we deliver
An agreed CRediT matrix, the disclosure text, and an ICMJE-aligned author list.
Thesis versus paper
In thesis advising the author is the student. On a paper there may be several authors. This publication track is journal manuscripts, not a disguised thesis. Thesis ABNT/APA do not replace ICMJE on the article.
LATAM and international journals
Many regional journals already ask for CRediT. The LATAM host does not change the criteria. tesispro.org uses the same authorship rule for the US and Europe.
Integrity
Ghost authorship on papers is not part of the offer. The assessed-work frame is on /integridad.
Authorship cases we refuse
Paying to appear. Listing a head who did not read. Removing whoever wrote the draft. Turning a student’s assessed work into a sole-author paper for the director.
Professional editing is declared. If TesisPro’s editor does not meet authorship criteria, they do not sign.
Scope, limits, and how the quote works
The four ICMJE criteria are not negotiated by lab hierarchy. Anyone who helped without meeting them is declared.
How it is recorded before submission
The CRediT matrix is agreed with the authors. GPP 2022 covers writing support. Hiding TesisPro is not a scope option.
Authorship questions
Does TesisPro’s editor sign the paper?
Only if they meet ICMJE. Editing alone is declared, not signed.
Is CRediT mandatory?
In our manuscript contracts, yes. The journal may have its own form; it is aligned.
Can I remove a co-author afterwards?
That is an author conflict, not a formatting extra. It is documented.
